The Anganwadi workers of the State rallied to the collectorate to raise their demand for hiking their monthly allowance to Rs 18,000. Anganwadi workers from across the state gathered at Gandhi Park and rallied towards the collectorate.

The president of Anganwadi Workers Association Rekha Negi informed that due to the persistent demand for an increase in monthly salary, the Anganwadi workers organised the rally on Friday. As part of the rally, a letter was submitted to the district magistrate, stating that the responsibility of implementing all schemes of the Central government and the State government be assigned to an Anganwadi worker, who should receive an appropriate honorarium for their work, she said.

She further informed that the Anganwadi workers are being neglected by the authorities. Considering this, she demanded that the government must raise the honorarium to Rs 18,000. There should be a provision of granting Rs two lakh to Anganwadi workers upon retirement so that they can enjoy their later years, she said. Negi further added that golden cards should be issued to Anganwadi workers so they can avail the benefits of government schemes. Additionally, the prompt upgradation of mini Anganwadi workers is a pressing demand from all the Anganwadi workers also, she added.
