Liquor worth Rs 95.47 Lakh by EC after enforcement of MCC

After the imposition of model code of conduct (MCC) in the state, the election commission has confiscated huge quantities of liquor and cash from different parts of the state.

On the orders of the EC, different agencies have so far seized liquor worth Rs 95, 47,867 in different parts of the state. The Flying Squad Teams (FST), Static Surveillance Teams (SST) and Police have so far confiscated 13,327 litres of liquor worth Rs 76,47,093 while the excise department has seized 4713 litres of liquor of Rs 19,00,774.  The authorities have also recovered cash of Rs 4,69,66,058 in violation of the norms of MCC from different parts of the state so far. The maximum recovery of cash has been from Haridwar district where Rs 4.5 crore cash has recovered on January 16. Interestingly the entire seizure was in old currency ( pre demonetisation) notes.
