India exercises its right to dismantle terror infrastructure: Govt

A few hours after India avenged the selective Pahalgam massacre of tourists through carrying out military strikes under Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps operating in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, the Government of India defended its actions, saying that India had exercised its right to respond, pre-empt as well as deter more cross-border attacks in future while averring that it focussed on dismantling the terror infrastructure and disabling terrorists. While making media briefing, the Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Col Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that the actions were measured, non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible.
Recalling the United Nations Security Council press statement on the Pahalgam attack, Misri said it had clearly underlined the “need to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers, and sponsors of this reprehensible act of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice”. He further said that India’s latest action should be seen in this context, adding that it was compulsion on India’s part to deter and pre-empt further terror attacks which were impending, given the inputs provided by intelligence network in India.
