The sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Laksar, Sangeeta Kanaujia took her last breath on Thursday morning after being admitted in the critical care unit (CCU) of AIIMS-Rishikesh for about four months. She was seriously injured after a dumper truck hit her official vehicle on April 26 while her driver had died on the spot.
Confirming the death of Kanaujia, the public relations officer (PRO) of AIIMS-Rishikesh Harish Thapliyal informed that she had sustained multiple injuries like serious spinal cord injury, brain injury and chest trauma along with a fracture of right upper limb. She was having difficulties in respiration and in moving her limbs too due to which she was kept on ventilator support. Thapliyal further said that she also had multiple organ failure including kidney failure and was on long term dialysis. She succumbed to her injuries on Thursday at 9 AM, he added.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed his grief at the untimely demise of the officer. He tweeted on Thursday, “Just received sad news of the death of SDM Sangeeta Kanaujia who succumbed to her injuries during her treatment in AIIMS after an accident occurred a few months ago. May God grant her soul a place at his feet and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this immense loss.”
