The state government has decided to start the recruitment process of constables and sub inspectors (SI) in the police department.  The government has directed the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (USSSC) to start the recruitment process of 1521 posts of constables and 197 posts of SIs. The state administration has given its approval to the commission for the recruitment on these posts of police department.

In an order the secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha has directed the USSSC to release the recruitment advertisement for 1521 posts of constables and 197 posts of SIs. It is pertinent to mention here that the unemployed youth were demanding the start of the recruitment process in the police department for quite some time now. Recently the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had assured agitated unemployed people belonging to the ‘ Devbhoomi Berojgar Manch’ that recruitment in various posts of police would be soon done. The Manch had organised a march to the residence of CM on December 17.

With the elections of the state assembly scheduled in early 2022 the state government is under pressure to fill the vacant posts in different departments. The opposition parties Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have made the prevailing unemployment a major issue. In the recently concluded winter session of Uttarakhand assembly the members of Congress party had raised the issue vociferously and tried to put the government on dock on employment data.

Immediately after assuming the post of CM of the state Dhami had said that providing employment would be his first priority. He had directed the officials to start the process of recruitment in 24,000 posts in different departments.
