Newly appointed nurses to serve in mountainous regions for first five years

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented appointment letters to 200 out of the 1,376 candidates selected to posts of nursing officers by the Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board. While Dhami presented the appointment letters to the 200 candidates in a function held at the CM residence on Sunday, the remaining were provided the appointment letters by the Health department.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that a nursing officer discharges a very important responsibility. The tasks of increasing health related awareness in the public at the ground level and educating the public on health related problems also lie with nursing officers. The promptness and excellence of nurses in emergency situations saves the lives of people, he said. Stating that the double-engine government had done various works in the health sector, Dhami said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana has proven to be a boon for the people of Uttarakhand. The State government is also benefitting the people through the Uttarakhand Atal Ayushman Yojana to ensure that better health services reach all the people in the State. Telemedicine services have also proven to be very beneficial for the people in distant and remote areas of the State. The government is also operating various schemes for mother and child, he added.The Medical Health and Medical Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the Health department has appointed 1,376 nursing officers after a period of 13 years. He said that all the appointed nursing officers will have to serve in mountainous areas of the State in the first five years of their service. This will help strengthen health services in distant areas. Stating that consistent efforts are being undertaken to further improve health services in the State, he said that Uttarakhand had recently received the JRD Tata memorial award for better performance in 42 health indicators. The survey conducted by Tata Research Centre found that provision of air service for critical patients, Atal Ayushman Yojana, 276 types of free tests and 90 per cent institutional deliveries are commendable efforts undertaken in the State, he added.
