Cold wave conditions to continue in state today

Even as various parts of the state registered a marked drop in the temperature on Saturday, the state meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of cold wave conditions in a few places of the state on Sunday. Further, cold day conditions are also likely to occur at a few places in the plains especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Sunday is also expected to see the likelihood of moderate to dense fog occuring in some parts of the plains especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts while frost is also likely to occur at isolated places in the state. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the districts of the state.

The provisional state capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear skies on Sunday with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 17 degrees Celsius and three degrees Celsius respectively.

On Saturday, people faced a drop in the mercury level with the sunlight providing some relief for a brief period in Dehradun.  Some locations in the mountainous regions also experienced sub zero temperatures. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on the day were 17. 8 degrees Celsius and 3.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 14.2 degrees Celsius and 3.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 10.8 degrees Celsius and 0.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 11.8 degrees Celsius and two degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
