The Pauri chief education officer Anand Bharadwaj sealed the storeroom of Scholar Academy in Kotdwar, in which books, school bags and uniforms were stored for selling to students. He also instructed Heritage Academy in Kotdwar to get the NOC from the State government in the prescribed duration failing which the letter will be dispatched to CBSE for cancellation of affiliation. The CEO inspected these schools on Wednesday acting on complaints received regarding private schools in Kotdwar. According to sources, complaints had been made to the CM’s office and the district magistrate about some schools running without accreditation, charging high fees and selling books, bags and uniforms at high prices. CEO Bharadwaj inspected Heritage Academy and found that the institution was running without the NOC of the State government. He directed the school officials to secure the NOC from the State government on time, failing which the department will recommend cancellation of the school’s CBSE affiliation. While inspecting Scholar Academy, Bharadwaj found books, bags and uniforms for sale to students in the storeroom. The Education department had prohibited schools from selling books, uniforms and other items to students. The store was sealed in the presence of the Dugadda block education officer.
