The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ inaugurated the initiative of the installation of dumper placer bins in the city on Tuesday. The refuse compactor vehicles will be used to lift these bins and unload the garbage without any mess at the garbage collection site. The locations of many large bins have become a regular sight of a huge pile of garbage which continues to get worse till the corporation’s vehicles do not collect it to dispose of in the solid waste management plant. Considering this, Chennai MSW Private Limited, the company that manages the garbage collection and disposal work in 69 wards, started an initiative of installing dumper placer bins at the five locations in the city which can hold the garage of about 3.5 cubic metres. Ahsan Saify from Chennai MSW informed that vehicles have also been modified to refuse compactor vehicles to ensure the newly installed bins can be emptied through the hydraulic technique which will be quick and mess-free. He said that these modified vehicles have the capacity to hold the garbage of such six bins and will surely help to tackle the issue of overflowing garbage bins in many areas. He said that this is a pilot project and more such bins will be installed based on the work response of this initiative. The mayor inaugurated the installation of bins in GMS road and said that this initiative will certainly help the corporation to improve the sanitation facilities across the city.The municipal commissioner Abhishek Ruhela and senior municipal health officer Dr RK Singh were also present during the event.
