Police probe raises questions at DNA test by woman accusing MLA of sexual exploitation

The claim of DNA test made by the woman who recently accused BJP MLA from Dwarahat constituency of Almora district, Mahesh Negi, of sexual exploitation has been found to be incorrect. The woman had claimed that the result of the DNA test of her child and husband had come out negative. Accusing the MLA of sexually exploiting her, she has been demanding a court ordered DNA test of the child to ascertain the identity of the father. The chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Usha Negi informed that the woman had claimed that she gave birth to her daughter on May 18 in a government hospital at Shamli, Uttar Pradesh and had her daughter and husband tested for DNA paternity test on July 27. The test report came out negative on August 8. As per the investigation report of the police, the information of the birth date of the daughter in the same hospital was verified during the investigation but there was no record of any paternity test by the woman in the said hospital on the said date and time. According to Negi, the management of the hospital has also provided documents to support this report. According to her, the police are presently investigating which lab prepared the DNA test report which is currently in possession of the woman who has accused the MLA of sexual exploitation. Meanwhile, Negi has directed the deputy inspector general (DIG)/Dehradun senior superintendent of police to take proper action against the woman for making false claims before authorities and asked to submit the investigation report within one week to the commission.

It is pertinent to mention here that while the woman had accused the Dwarahat MLA of sexual exploitation, the MLA’s wife had lodged a police case accusing the woman of blackmailing the MLA. The MLA himself has averred that the allegations are false and has also alleged that some leaders of the opposition party are also involved in the conspiracy to frame him.
