Covid-19 infected should get booster dose after 3 months- Agarwal

The nodal officer for Covid-19 at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital here, Dr Anurag Agarwal has said that such persons who have been infected with  Covid-19 recently should get the booster dose of vaccine three months after the infection. The government has started administering booster doses of the vaccine to the health care workers, front line workers and senior citizens.

Dr Agarwal said that all frontline workers and health care workers who are having symptoms of the disease should get them tested with RTPCR kit and then get the booster dose only when they are negative. “In this way they will protect themselves and the employees vaccinating them. The Covid-19 infected people should get the booster dose three months after the infection as the antibodies are formed after infection,’’ he said.

The Covid-19 nodal officer said that on Friday 813 patients got themselves examined in the OPDs of the GDMC hospital and out of them 231 patients were of flu OPD. He said that the patients with symptoms such as fever, headache, throat infection and cold should visit the Flu OPD. Such patients should get tested for the disease and take doctor’s consultation. He added that patients with mild symptoms should remain in home isolation. Everyone should wear a mask, observe social distancing and get vaccinated.

Dr Agarwal said that 36 Covid-19 patients are admitted in GDMC hospital. On Friday six new patients were admitted while four were discharged. On Friday about 400 people got tested in the hospital.
