Heavy to very heavy rain forecast at isolated places today

Even as many places in the state experienced light to moderate rain with snowfall being reported in some high altitude regions on Wednesday, the state meteorological centre has issued a warning while forecasting the possibility of heavy ro very heavy rainfall at isolated places in nine districts of the state on Thursday. The state is forecast to receive light to moderate rain/thunderstorm/snowfall at most places on Thursday.

According to the weather forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts on Thursday.  Further, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense showers are also likely to occur at a few places in the state while gusty winds (30-40 Kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the plains of the state.

Dehradun is forecast to experience few spells of light to moderate rain along with thundershowers. Gusty winds (40-50 Kmph) are likely to occur in some areas while the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 28 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places on Wednesday were 25.3 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 26.5 degrees Celsius and 22.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 12.5 degrees Celsius and 9.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 16.2 degrees Celsius and 13.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. From 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM 6.1 mm rain was received in Dehradun, 2.4 mm in Pantnagar, 8.4 mm in Mukteshwar and 9.6 mm in New Tehri while Pithoragarh, Mukteshwar and Tehri among other places received more than 10 mm rainfall during the same time period.
