Building & other Construction Workers Labour Welfare Board reconstituted

 The State administration has reconstituted the Uttarakhand Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The additional chief secretary/ principal secretary/ secretary labour welfare would be the chairman of the board while the welfare commissioner, government of India, labour welfare organisation, Dehradun would be the member  representing the Central government in the board.

The State government would be represented by principal secretary/ secretary finance, principal secretary/ secretary Justice and chief inspector of building and other construction, Uttarakhand. Similarly the government has appointed Krishmani Thapliyal of Tapovan, Chamoli, Shekharanand Pandey of Haldwani and Neelam Maindoliya of Dhumakot Pauri as three members representing building and construction workers in the board.  Devesh Bhatt of Nainital, Trilok Singh Negi of Udham Singh Nagar and Mohammad Ikram of Clement Town would be the members who would represent the employers in the important board.

 It is pertinent to mention here that the cash rich board is being headed by the secretary labour welfare as officiating chairman from September 2021.  

 The board was headed by the then Labour minister Harak Singh Rawat after the BJP government came in power in the year 2017. However following complaints of large scale irregularities, the then chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat removed Harak Singh Rawat from the post of the board;s chairman and appointed his protégé Shamsher Singh Satyal in his place. On the protest registered by Harak Singh Rawat, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami had suspended the board in September 2021.
