In protest against the back door appointments in the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha, the workers of the Mahila Congress held a protest at the gate of Vidhan Sabha on Saturday. Led by the State president of the Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela, the activists also burned the effigy of the State government.

Speaking at the protest, Rautela said that the people of the State had given a massive mandate to the BJP but its government has done nothing for the people and has only engaged in acts which provided direct benefit to its leaders. She said that a series of scams in the recruitments in cooperative department, Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) and Vidhan Sabha secretariat has exposed the BJP government. Rautela said that the youth of the State are finding themselves cheated by the BJP government. Demanding a free and fair inquiry in the questionable Vidhan Sabha recruitments, she warned that a massive agitation would be launched by the Mahila Congress if the government fails to take any action.
