Book on ideological progression of women’s rights released in DLRC

A book titled “The Ideological Progression of Women’s Rights Question in Colonial India 1820-1947” by Manoj Panjani was released in Dehradun. The book was released by former principal of MKP PG College, Indu Singh and Doon Library and Research Centre (DLRC) director BK Joshi.

The author has based his book on research undertaken during the past 17 years and it is about the journey of Indian women’s quest for equality. Panjani spoke on lesser known facts about the role of women in India’s freedom struggle and their collective battles fought against the patriarchal society of the colonial era. He said that he toiled to collect information and facts on the topic since most of the work in the colonial era was penned by men which provided no room for women. Speaking on the occasion Singh opined that the book is a good collection of lesser known facts and anecdotes from the struggles of Indian women at that time. Joshi

said that DLRC has been supportive in publishing new works by amateur writers as well.
