Short movie from U’khand selected for Busan Film Festival

Pataal Ti, a short film based on a folk tale of the Bhotia tribe of Uttarakhand has been selected for screening at the prestigious Busan International Short Film festival. This movie is among 40 selected from a total of 2,548 entries from 111 countries and the sole from India to make it to the event this year. The movie was filmed in different high altitude locations of Uttarakhand and is produced and directed by local youngsters.  Informing about the film, producer and director Santosh Rawat said that it is based on a folklore in which a young boy undertakes a journey to places located in lofty mountains to fulfill the last desire of his grandfather for  holy water. “During the journey he discovers various aspects of culture, tradition, nature and himself. The water is used as a metaphor in the movie. The whole team spent 20 days and trekked 300 kilometres in the high Himalayas for shooting the movie,’’ he said.   

The film’s executive producer Gajendra Rautela said that the short film brings forward the soul of the mountains before the world. He said that the movie is produced by Rudraprayag based production house UK 13 and Ayush Rawat, Dhan Singh Rana, Kamla Kunwar and Bhagat Singh Burfal have acted in it.
