The Forest Research Institute will reopen for the visitor’s from Saturday following the guidelines of Covid-19 protocol. Due to Covid-19 only 200 visitors will be allowed to visit FRI/museums/ campus per day from 9 AM to 5 PM. Further, only those visitors who have registered online will be allowed to enter the campus. All the visitors can make their registration on the website of the institute fri.icfre.gov.in and make the payment at the gate showing the printout of registration. The FRI campus will also reopen for morning and evening walks.

It will be recalled that on November 27 the FRI campus was declared closed to tourists and visitors till December 5 as a result of the old hostel of Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) being declared a micro containment zone by the Dehradun district magistrate. The decision to close the institute to visitors was taken as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19. The IGNFA old hostel was turned into a micro containment zone after 11 Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers from the academy tested positive for Covid. About 48 IFS officers had gone to Lucknow for a mid-career training programme and 11 of them had tested positive for Covid after their return to Dehradun. It should be mentioned here that apart from a number of walkers, the FRI campus also attracts a regular stream of visitors to its museums along with sightseers.
