Congress to hold a massive protest on the first day of winter session in Gairsain

Accusing the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for systematically suppressing the issue of Gairsain the former chief minister and head of election campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat has asserted that when the Congress comes to power in the state it would prepare a two to three year plan for infrastructural development of Gairsain which would pave way for according permanent capital status to Gairsain. Talking to the media persons at the Congress Bhawan here on Monday, Rawat said that in the last five years the BJP government has failed to place a single brick in Gairsain. He said that the Dhami government should inform about the status of Rs 57 Crore the Congress government has given to the PLA fund of District Magistrate (DM) of Chamoli for construction of secretariat building and a colony of 500 residences. Similarly, he questioned the present status of Bharadisain infrastructure Development Corporation and Gairsain development council set up during the Congress regime. Rawat said that he as CM had planned to construct six roads to connect Gairsain and had constructed two roads while remaining four roads are yet to be constructed. He said that the BJP is deliberately holding the winter session in Gairsain so that the summer capital status granted to it is diluted.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said in the last nine months, after the state government had accorded the status of summer capital to Gairsain, the CM and the chief secretary (CS) have not stayed for a single day and night in Gairsain. He claimed that not only the CM, ministers and senior officers but even section officers have not stayed in Gairsain despite it being the summer capital. The PCC president said that the Congress party would hold a massive protest in Gairsain on November 29 on the issues of price rise, unemployment, corruption and Gairsain.  He said that the Congress party has postponed its Vijay Sankalp Shankhnaad programme in Haldwani from November to 11 November. In the programme Yashpal Arya who had returned back to the Congress party would be accorded a welcome. Godiyal claimed that the ruling BJP got so frightened by the programme of Congress that it has organised CM’s programme on the same day and same time near the venue.
