BJP failed to keep promises made to farmers: Pritam

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has appealed to the Congress party workers to dedicate themselves for victory of the Congress candidate Ganga Pancholi in the Salt assembly Bye election. Addressing a public meeting at Jainal locality after the Congress candidate filed her paper the PCC president said that in the run up for the assembly elections of 2017, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders of BJP had promised that if voted to power in the state, the party would waive off the loans of the farmers. He said that the party forgot its promise even though the people of Uttarakhand had given an overwhelming majority to BJP in 2017. He added that many distressed farmers committed suicide in the state in last four years but the government had failed to notice the plight of farmers.

The PCC president said, “We had requested the government to help the families of the farmers who had committed suicide but the then CM state had said that the help would force more suicides. I have never seen such an insensitive government in my life,’’ he said. The meeting was addressed co in-charge Rajesh Dharmani, Rajya Sabha MP Pradip Tamta, former speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, Harish Dhami and Lalit Pharswan.
