The Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya said that practically necessary and public-friendly amendments should be made in the schemes run by the department so that the general public can get the full benefit of the schemes. She said this while reviewing the progress report of the departmental schemes on Friday. She also pulled up officials for not being fully prepared for the review meeting.

In the meeting, the minister had a detailed discussion with the officials regarding the progress of the schemes being run by the Women Welfare department in all the districts of the State. Regarding the lack of a separate building in the department regarding the care of mentally sick children, the minister instructed the officials to make proposals soon for the construction of the same in Haridwar district.

Apart from this, she directed the district probation officers to make proposals for the construction of additional rooms, other resources and arrangements in case of more children than the capacity in the buildings. She further stated that the departmental officials must work efficiently so that the benefits of the departmental schemes can reach the common people soon. She further instructed the officials to work on the amendments regarding vagrant women and drug-addicted children. The encroachment on the land of children’s hostels covered under Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar should be resolved by the district administration, she added.
