STF arrest father-son duo accused in quadruple murder case

Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a father-son duo from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who was allegedly absconding in a quadruple murder case in the Haridwar district for the past two years. The accused named Akhlakh (58) and Shahrukh (26) had allegedly murdered four people in the Kheri Khurd area of Haridwar along with their accomplices on May 6, 2021, said the senior superintendent of police, STF, Ayush Agrawal. He said that both had a bounty of Rs 50,000 each on their head. He claimed that both accused were involved in brutally murdering four locals of the Kheri Khurd area- Zaheer Hasan, Mohammad Kaif, Sahjan Alam and Hussain Ahmed, along with their accomplices and fled the scene.

The police registered a case against culprits under Sections 302, 147, 148, 149, 307, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code in Kotwali Laksar. He said that the police had arrested many accused of this murder but several were still absconding. The STF had arrested another absconding accused in the same case named Yad Hussain (30) in April this year who was hiding in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh and also had a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head. The SSP said that the STF received information on June 1 that the father-son duo has been hiding in Deoband of Saharanpur district of UP after which, a team of STF went there and arrested both accused. They were brought back to Haridwar late on Thursday night and were sent to jail in the wee hours of Friday after completing the required procedure, said Agrawal. He said that the authorities have nabbed a total of 14 accused in this case so far who have been sent to jail.
