Committee to be formed for drinking water tariff revision

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has directed the formation of a committee comprising Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik and State minister for Higher Education, Dhan Singh Rawat for drinking water tariff revision. This committee will check the relevant facts in depth and then present its recommendations to the chief minister after which a policy decision will be taken regarding the revision of drinking water tariff.

Chairing a meeting on Saturday regarding drinking water tariff revision, the chief minister said that it is important to simplify the rigidity of tariffs currently implemented for water and sewer maintenance. For this, he directed the Urban Development minister and the State minister for Higher Education to evaluate all relevant facts and present their recommendations.

Other issues like unauthorised use of water, charging annual water tax from those securing water by boring for groundwater and from other water plants, buildings/establishments not connected to available sewer facility and other aspects were also discussed in detail during the meeting.

Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik, State minister for Higher Education, chief secretary Om Prakash, secretaries Amit Singh Negi and Nitesh Jha among others were also present in the meeting.
