Additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan has directed officials to construct a check dam in the under construction city park at Tarla Nagal area. The check dam should be built on the ‘nala’ passing through the city park in order to facilitate rainwater harvesting. The ACS issued this direction while inspecting the city park being constructed by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) at Tarla Nagal. Bardhan inspected various projects of the authority on Tuesday.

Reaching the project site along with the MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari and other officials, Bardhan expressed satisfaction considering the work underway. Along with works for rainwater harvesting, a check dam should also be constructed on the ‘nala’ passing through the city park. This check dam could also become an attraction for the visitors to the city park, he opined. Bardhan also directed that as many trees as possible should be planted in the area. He also directed the officials to speed up work on the Alayam project of the MDDA being constructed in the Sahastradhara Road area. The additional chief secretary then visited the ISBT where he directed the officials to make the terminal more systematic. Tiwari informed him that the MDDA had taken back the operation of ISBT and the mall from Ramky company and that the operation of the mall will be started soon. Bardhan said that special focus should be laid on the convenience of travellers in the ISBT. It should be developed on the lines of such facilities in big cities. The ACS also inspected the ISBT residential project and issued necessary directions to the officials. The MDDA vice chairman directed the officials to speed up execution of the projects which had been inspected by Bardhan so that the general public can benefit from these at the earliest.

Officials further informed that the ACS had also appreciated the wall paintings and other beautification works being undertaken by the MDDA in preparation for the global investors summit to be held in Dehradun during December. Inspecting these works, Bardhan directed that they should be completed before the end of the time limit. Tiwari informed that as done for the G20 summit, the MDDA is undertaking beautification of Dehradun. Installation of signage and wall paintings are being done at various locations in the city for this purpose, he added.
