Three new patients of Omicron surface in U’khand

The state now has four cases of dreaded Omicron variant of Covid-19

Three new cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 were reported in Uttarakhand on Monday. The state now has four cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 which is highly contagious mutant of the virus. 

The director general (DG) of state health services Dr Tripti Bahuguna said that a 74 year male and 65 year old female, resident of Rajpur road area of Dehradun have been found positive for Omicron variant. She said that both of them had come into contact with a family that had recently returned from Dubai. She said that a 28 year old male, a resident of Haridwar who had recently returned from Yemen has been found positive for Omicron variant. All these patients have been kept in isolation and the department is working on their contact history.

In view of an increase in the number of cases of Omicron variant in the state, the secretary medical health Pankaj Pandey has directed the department to increase vigil on the disease. He said that the number of Covid tests should be increased and the samples of all the Covid-19 positive patients should be sent for genome sequencing to the lab of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital.
