MLA rejects allegations of abusing municipal commissioner

Salt MLA Mahesh Jeena has rejected allegations that he used abusive words while talking to Dehradun municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Tuesday. Talking to media persons, Jeena said that he was approached by representatives of a company involved in sanitation works. “They told me that they had also submitted a tender for disposal of legacy waste in the city but it had been rejected. They alleged that the process was questionable. I went to the MCD and found the office door of the municipal commissioner shut. I phoned him and he told me that he was at the secretariat. I told him what I was told by the company representatives and asked for the reason for their tender being rejected so that they may not repeat the error in the future.

However, Kumar told me that a committee was handling the matter and that he would look into it. I went to another room where a person, who later said he was a ‘third party’, talked to me in an objectionable manner and on learning of my identity went into the commissioner’s room. I followed him and found Kumar sitting in his office. I only asked him to tell me the reason for the tender being rejected but he did not behave properly with me.

I did not use abusive words for him but edited video clips are being circulated to make it appear so. If this is how an IAS officer behaves with an MLA, one can only imagine how such officials behave with the general public,” the MLA said.
