U’khand govt failure on every front: Devendra Yadav

The in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav has said that the BJP government of state has failed on all fronts. Talking to the media persons at the state headquarters of the party here on Tuesday he said that the state government has failed to tackle the pandemic of Covid-19 and has not fulfilled its promise to provide employment to the youth. Speaking about the objective of his first visit to the state after being appointed as the in charge of the party, Yadav said that he would hold interaction with top leaders of the party as well as block level leaders. He said that based on the feedback from all leaders a strategy would be formulated for return of Congress in power in Uttarakhand. On the question of Congress being divided in different factions in Uttarakhand, Yadav said that all the leaders are united.

 Meanwhile the three day visit of Uttarakhand in charge of Congress party Devendra Yadav started on a hectic note on Tuesday as he took a series of meetings with different leaders. He started the day with a closed door meeting with the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh, general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and former chief minister Harish Rawat and leader of opposition in state assembly Indira Hridayesh. Former PCC president Kishore Upadhyaya also attended the meeting. The meeting assumed significance because the Uttarakhand Congress is believed to be divided into factions led by these leaders. It is learnt that Yadav understood the dynamics of the party from these leaders and also conveyed the message of the party high command. The meeting was also attended by AICC secretary, Qazi Nizamuddin and co in-charge of the party, Rajesh Dharmani.

After this meeting Yadav met the members of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and former MLAs, the leaders of different frontal organisations of the party and members of the PCC. The series of the meetings continued till late evening at the Rajiv Bhawan which remained the focus of hectic activity on the day.

Informing about these meetings, the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the state in charge took feedback on the political situation in the state. He discussed the achievements of the Congress government in the state from 2012 to 2017 and compared them with the present government. Yadav asked the Congress leaders to take this comparative account to the general public. Dhasmana said that the Yadav directed the Congress leaders to focus on failures of Trivendra Singh Rawat government and the union government led by Narendra Modi and advised that the Congress leaders should attack these governments. In the meeting with the AICC leaders and former MPs, MLAs and MP candidates of 2019 elections, Yadav discussed ways to strengthen the party at booth level. An understanding to raise the issues in the internal forum of the party was also reached in this meeting.

Yadav accorded warm welcome

The visit of the newly appointed in charge of Uttarakhand appeared to infuse enthusiasm in the state unit of the Congress party. Hordes of Congressmen of all hues were seen in the Rajiv Bhawan and it was apparent that Yadav has done his homework well. Earlier on the day, the state in charge was accorded a warm welcome by the party leaders and workers. At Dehradun airport, he was received by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh and other leaders. His cavalcade was stopped by the Congress workers at Doiwala, Mianwala, Mokhumpur, Nehru Colony and Aaraghar where he was garlanded.
