Use AI to enrol volunteers- Governor to Red Cross Society

The governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh chaired the 17th general body meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society (Uttarakhand chapter) at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion the governor said that the volunteers of Red Cross are serving the society and nation by working dedicatedly and selflessly serving the people. He said that it is seen that in most cases the Red Cross volunteer is the first person to reach the site of an accident or disaster. The governor said that the volunteers should now get ready for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and monsoon season.

He suggested that the Red Cross should enroll more new volunteers by social media, mass media and artificial intelligence. The governor told the office bearers of Red Cross Society to prepare artificial intelligence enabled Android based applications in four months so that information about all volunteers is readily available. He also suggested that more and more donors should be associated with the society. The governor said that there are many challenges in Uttarakhand and for them the Red Cross Society should always be ready. Appreciating the role of Redcross in the pandemic, the governor said the volunteers should always be ready for rendering such services in future. He said that a state level seminar of Red Cross should be organised in the Raj Bhawan in the next three months.

In the meeting the office bearers of the society presented an account of activities and the audit report. An annual budget for the year 2022-23 was also presented which was approved by the governor.

The Health minister of Uttarakhand Dhan Singh Rawat was also present on the occasion.

In the programme the governor launched the title song of the Uttarakhand chapter of Red Cross Society. The song has been prepared by Harish Dafoti of Bageshwar.

Principal secretary S Fenai, Secretary to Governor Ranjit Sinha, District Magistrate of Dehradun R Rajesh Kumar, the general secretary of Red Cross state managing committee Dr M S Ansari, vice chairman Gaurav Joshi, treasurer Mohan Khatri and others were present in the programme.
