Paragliding operators assure complying with safety norms

The paragliding operators assured the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) that they are and will continue to comply with safety norms. The operators said this while attending a meeting with UTDB at Bhimtal in Kumaon on Wednesday.

Presiding over the meeting, UTDB’s additional chief executive officer (Adventure) Ashwin Pundir discussed at length the issues concerning paragliding in the state. While reiterating UTDB’s commitment to promoting adventure sports like paragliding in the state, Pundir stressed on the compliance of safety norms. He also assured that the grievances raised by the paragliding tour operators will be addressed. The UTDB officials on the occasion also inspected the takeoff and landing sites for paragliding at Bhimtal. 

Representatives from as many as 10 paragliding tour operators and pilots attended the meeting. It should be mentioned here that along with other activities, paragliding is being promoted in the state as adventure sport. Bhimtal, Kotabagh, Nainital, Kausani and Bageshwar are some of key sites of paragliding in the Kumaon region of the State.
