The Zoo Road in Nainital city will remain closed to four-wheelers from 10 AM to 7 PM on Friday. The locals and tourists will be able to go to the zoo or their homes on foot or on two-wheelers during this time period. The road is being closed to four-wheelers for most of today due to the asphalting work being undertaken on the road by the Public Works Department (PWD).
It is pertinent to mention here that the PWD had earlier started the asphalting of the Zoo Road. However, traffic on the road and cold during the night was preventing the asphalt from settling properly to the desired quality. Considering this, the PWD has planned to undertake the asphalting work during the daytime. The department’s assistant engineer GS Janauti informed that the Zoo Road from the Birla Road will remain closed to four-wheelers from 10 AM to 7 PM today. The tourists and locals will be allowed to pass on foot or on two-wheelers, he added.
