Homes allotted to beneficiaries in five housing projects

The Housing and Urban Development minister Prem Chand Agrawal presented allotment letters to beneficiaries of five housing projects built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban Affordable Housing in Partnership). These projects have been built in different cities of the State. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the Housing department is working on a total of 20 projects in the State. He said that homes have been allotted to a total of 1,983 beneficiaries. These include 542 in the Manglaur-Roorkee housing project in Haridwar, 845 in the Anekihettampur housing project in Haridwar, 98 in the Mahuakhedaganj housing project in Udham Singh Nagar, 108 in the Manpur housing project in Udham Singh Nagar and 390 in Umedhpur- Ramnagar housing project in Nainital. Agrawal said that in order to keep the process of allotment of houses transparent, the homes are being allotted through an online lottery. During this process, priority is being accorded to the senior citizens and the differently abled by alloting ground floor homes to them. He further informed that the Uttarakhand Housing and Development Council has so far allotted a total of 6,463 homes in the first phase of the housing projects. For the allotment of homes in the remaining projects, the process of verification after receiving applications is currently underway. The allotment of these houses will also be done in the near future, he said. Agrawal said that private developers are providing houses at Rs six lakh per unit to the council. Out of this, Rs 1.50 lakh is provided by the Government of India as grant, Rs one lakh by the State government and the remaining Rs 3.50 lakh is being paid by the beneficiaries. The Housing minister said that considering women empowerment, priority is being accorded to women in the allotment of houses and in other cases, women and men are being allotted the homes jointly. Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan, Ramnagar MLA Diwan Singh Bisht, additional housing commissioner Prakash Chandra Dumka and other officials were also present on the occasion.
