U’khand child rights body asks Doon DM to ban loudspeaker use by vendors

The body takes cognizance of a student’s complaint

In view of the noise pollution level becoming alarming for the elderly, the sick and the students due to the use of loudhailers by the street vendors and others, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Uttarakhand (SCPCR) has asked for immediate ban on the use of the loud speakers. Notably, a student Sristi wrote to the commission in the public interest, praying for its intervention in stopping the use of the loudspeakers which is begetting diseases for the citizens. She also said in her complaint that such sounds near their homes are disturbing their studies. Taking prompt cognizance of the girl’s complaint, the commission wrote to the Dehradun district magistrate to act on it fast so as to give relief to those suffering from the menace of sound pollution.
