Uttarakhand BJP to remember Jyoti Ba Phule on birth anniversary

On the call given by the national president of BJP, J P Nadda the Uttarakhand unit of the party would organise a ‘Social Justice fortnight’ in the state. The event would be held to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Jyoti Ba Phule and Baba Sahab B R Ambedkar.

The spokesperson of state BJP Shadab Shams told media persons here on Monday that Jyoti Ba Phule had opened the first school in the country for girls in the year 1848 in Pune Maharashtra. In this school, his wife Savitri Bai became the first teacher. Terming Phule as the great social reformer, intellectual, visionary, philosopher and revolutionary, the BJP leader said that he dedicated his life for providing right of education to women and ending the practice of child marriage.  He said that Phule undertook revolutionary steps on Child marriage and widow remarriage in this direction at the time when the people had not even started thinking logically on this direction.

He said that during the last seven years of rule of BJP under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many social evils have either got finished or are at verge of extinction. India has set an example in the world in the field of women empowerment. Shams said that the BJP is organising the birth anniversary of Mahatma Phule on a grand scale in different parts of the country.
