Two men died and one woman sustained injuries after a utility vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge in the Chakrata area on Monday morning. The officials said that the deceased have been identified as Manoj Singh (27) and Puran Singh (48). The woman who sustained serious injuries was identified as Samo Devi (42), wife of the deceased Puran Singh, as per the officials. They said that all victims belong to the Kwanu village of the Chakrata area and were from the same family. They were going towards Vikasnagar on Monday morning when their vehicle fell into a gorge in the Chakrata area.
The officials said that when the authorities reached the accident site, two men had died at the spot and one woman was found severely injured. She was retrieved from the gorge with the help of villagers and subsequently taken to a hospital in Vikasnagar for treatment in a private vehicle. Her health was critical till late on Monday evening, as per the officials. They said that the area where the accident happened falls under the revenue police who will investigate the matter after completion of all necessary procedures.
