Traffic to remain disrupted for two months due to Smart City works

The traffic movement from Aggarwal Dharamshala on Gandhi Road to the Bhandaribagh area will remain affected for at least two months due to construction work on roads under the Smart City project. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the work of laying drainage and sewer lines will be done by Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) along with departments concerned in a radius of about 1.5 kilometres from Aggarwal Dharamshala to Bhandaribagh. Due to this, the movement of vehicles on various stretches on the said route will be disrupted which will also cause traffic issues but the police will adopt all possible measures to minimise inconvenience for commuters, he said. “Once the work starts on the main road, the vehicles going from Prince Chowk towards Saharanpur Chowk will be diverted towards the crematorium route before Saharanpur Chowk. Most of the work will be done from 10 PM to 6 AM as per the officials concerned,” SSP said. He also added that he has directed DSCL and the departments concerned to install proper barriers around the work site to prevent accidents. He stated, “The officials have assured the police that they will not dig the whole route altogether but will carry out works in small parts and will proceed further only after finishing it. We have also instructed them to not spread construction material on the road that causes more traffic congestion. Since the work is expected to take at least two months to get finished, I appeal to people to provide their cooperation to the police and use alternative routes as much as possible.”
