Keen to corner the ruling BJP on the emotional issue of the Ankita Bhandari murder case in wake of new developments, the Uttarakhand Congress has decided to undertake three-day ‘give justice to Ankita Bhandari’ Yatras in the State. These Yatras will be taken out by all the district, mahanagar, block and Nagar Congress committees from January 14 to 16. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said the party will take out rallies in all parts of the state on the demand of a high level judicial probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case.

The vice president (organisation) of the state Congress Mathura Dutt Joshi said that after the great success of Bharat Jodo Yatra, the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is starting a 6,700 km long Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Imphal to Maharashtra. The Yatra will commence on January 14 and to extend its support to the Yatra of Gandhi, the state unit has decided to take out ‘give justice to Ankita Bhandari’ Yatras in the State.  He said that the father of Ankita Bhandari has written a letter to the chief minister and in it he has exposed the name of the VIP involved in the case and those responsible for demolishing the resort but the Dhami government which boasts of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ has taken no action against the guilty. He said that the Congressmen will demand punitive action on the VIP and those responsible for demolishing the resort in the Yatras. Joshi said that all the MLAs, former MLAs, MLA candidates, members of AICC, PCC, frontal organisations and cells have been asked to take part in these Yatras.
