Tourists throng Dhanolti and nearby locations for Christmas

While a large number of tourists visited popular hill stations like Mussoorie, a number of visitors have also reached Dhanaulti, Kanatal and Buranshkhanda for Christmas celebrations. It is expected that the arrival of tourists in Dhanaulti and nearby destinations which began on Christmas eve will continue till New Year celebrations. The advent of a considerable number of tourists has brought cheer to those involved in the tourism and related businesses.

On Monday, Dhanaulti was abuzz with tourists arriving here on Christmas. On the Chamba-Mussoorie fruit belt, the local shopkeepers were enthused by the hustle and bustle of tourists in Thangdhar, Kanatal and Buranshkhanda. Tourists from Dehradun, Punjab and Haryana, among other destinations, have reached these destinations to enjoy the cool valleys. Tourists enjoyed the pleasant weather amid dense forests.

Many of the tourists were also seen enjoying adventure sports in Thangdhar and Jadipani areas. The visitors were seen enjoying adventure activities like rock climbing and other recreational activities. Most of the hotels in Dhanaulti were booked in advance for Christmas. Due to the arrival of a large number of tourists in the city, the police also had to work hard to manage the traffic at the intersections.

Dhanolti hotel association president Yashpal Belwal said that 80 per cent advance booking had been done for Christmas in most of the hotels in Dhanaulti. Dhanolti Tehsildar Rajendra Prasad Mamgai said that a large number of tourists have arrived on Christmas. The police were deployed to manage the traffic in view of the increased load.
