Governor, CM Dhami greet people on Constitution day

The Governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmit Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Constitution Day. On November 26, 1949, the people of India had adopted the Constitution of India and the day is celebrated as constitution day.  He said that the constitution is the soul of Indian democracy and also the source of all its powers.

  The Governor added that the strong structure of the Indian constitution was made possible by the extraordinary talent, hard work and great ideas of Baba Sahib Ambedkar.

 The Governor said, “ Constitution Day is a day for all of us to remember the true ideals, strong principles and sense of sacred duties enshrined in the Constitution of India.  In the historical work of making the constitution of independent India, many great sages and great women of the country have prepared such a wonderful document which is a lighthouse for us as a nation.  In its light, our nation and citizens are shaping India’s golden future.’’

 In his message, CM Dhami said that today India is the biggest democracy in the world and the Constitution has played a major role in providing a special identity to the country. He said that apart from mentioning the fundamental rights the constitution also elaborates about fundamental duties for its citizens.
