Light rain forecast in 5 districts today

In what may be seen as a minor relief, the State meteorological centre has not issued any heat wave alert for Sunday. Very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Sunday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.  Further, strong and gusty surface wind is likely to occur during the daytime at a few places in the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to experience partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder cloud development occurring in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 40 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, various parts of the State received very light to moderate rain on Saturday. People in Dehradun experienced minor temporary relief from the heat due to a brief spell of very light rain measuring 1.6 millimetres. Agastyamuni received 25.5 millimetres rain while 29.5 millimetres rain was received in Gangolihat, 11.5 millimetres in Pokhari and eight millimetres in Chalti on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State were 39.9 degrees Celsius and 25.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 40 degrees Celsius and 26.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 29.1 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 27.6 degrees Celsius and 17.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
