A joint team of the Dehradun district administration and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) conducted an inspection of hotels, restaurants and meat shops in various areas of Dehradun. The team conducted inspections in areas including Prince Chowk, Gandhi Road, Tyagi Road and railway station, among others. The team found unhygienic conditions in a hotel situated near the railway station.

The meat stored there was also in a bad condition. The officials said that the validity of the hotel’s food safety license had also expired and the hotel administration was also unable to present the bill for the meat. Considering this, the team imposed a hefty penalty on the hotel. Besides this, the team also found unhygienic conditions in a restaurant and a dhaba located at Prince Chowk. The officials said that the team also found no valid license besides poor hygienic conditions at Shamsher Singh meat shop.

The teams also found a few restaurants functioning with expired licenses and in unhygienic conditions. The management of Hotel Siddharth Paradise also failed to provide a waste control certificate. The team also found a restaurant allegedly serving expired coffee, chocolate powder and green tea. The officials said that the management of all the establishments were issued challans for violations and a report was submitted to authorities concerned to take further action as per the rules.
