With Haridwar police continuing its operation against the cattle smugglers, there was an encounter between the police and the miscreants during which two of the miscreants were injured in legs in police firing.  The miscreant duo has been identified as Aas Mohammad, resident of Chandpur, and Rihan, resident of Bhagwanpur. Notably, Buggawala and Bhagwanpur police have been conducting operations in areas bordering Saharanpur against cattle smuggling.

On receiving information that a large number of cattle had been tied up in the forest area under Buggawala police station limit, police reached the area and laid a cordon. Five cattle smugglers were also found present there.

As the miscreants saw the police coming, they opened fire. Police then resorted to retaliatory firing. In the police firing, Aas Mohammad against whom five cases have been registered and Rihan against whom eight cases have been registered were injured in legs and were nabbed. Three other miscreants, however, managed to escape.  The senior police officers reached the spot on receiving the information of the encounter. The injured miscreants were taken to the hospital.

Senior superintendent of police Haridwar Ajay Singh said that police are launching a manhunt for the three absconding miscreants.
