Analysis of a collaborative Hazard Vulnerability Risk Assessment (HVRA) conducted in 15 Gram Panchayats of Uttarakhand has found that Fitari, Osla, Harshil and Dharali Gram Panchayats score significantly higher in terms of risk. The co-founder of techno-environment catalyst STS Global, Anshu Sharma stated this during the recently concluded sixth World Congress on Disaster Management. During the discussion, STS Global shared information from the collaborative HRVA conducted in 15 selected Gram Panchayats for which information was also collected about their physical, environmental, economic, social and institutional aspects.

Based on HVRA the project team analysed the selected Gram Panchayats for loss incidents. Taking into account the focus group discussions (FGDs) and the analysis based on them, the four Gram Panchayats scored significantly higher in terms of risk. This clearly means that these villages are at high risk of multiple harms and require planning and prioritising efforts for the future, Sharma said. STS Global specialises in end-to-end humanitarian efforts to bridge the gap in Climate Information Services (CIS) in the Himalayan region.
