The officials of the regional transport office (RTO) of Dehradun have claimed that they have created the Jhajhra-Raipur route for the operation of city buses when in fact, the transport department has not sent any proposal to the State government regarding this route. Stating this, the president of City Bus Union Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal claimed that he got this information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. He said that the regional transport authority (RTA) and State Transport Authority (STA) which generally deals in such matters have not sent any appeal or request regarding the operation of city buses on the said route. He alleged that the RTO has deliberately started the operation of many city buses there and issued temporary permits to them which is against the rules.

He claimed that RTO even waived the pending tax of these buses of Rs two lakh and recently the tax of two months. He said that all these acts point towards corruption in the transport office which should be probed by the government. He said that he has written to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to investigate the alleged corruption charges against the officials of the department. He said that he has also asked CM to make deductions from the salary of officials concerned to recover the revenue of the taxes waived by RTO against the rules. He also requested to transfer the officials concerned to another division so that they do not obstruct or influence the investigation here.
