Union minister checks various works in aspirational district Haridwar

Goyal impressed by blend of modern technology & traditional knowledge at Patanjali

Union minister for Commerce and Industry, and Consumer Affairs visited the Patanjali Yogpeeth on his arrival here on a two-day visit to check the government works being undertaken in the aspirational district of Haridwar. While touring the Patanjali Research Institute, the Union minister saw the institute’s herbal laboratory, herbal research and development department and other facilities. Acharya Balkrishna informed him that the institute is doing considerable work on herbal science. He also showed the minister a 1,400 year old book in the institute’s manuscript conservation department. The institute has about 65 lakh pages of various manuscripts, he added.

Speaking later he said that the Patanjali Research Institute is connecting Ayurveda with modern science. Swami Ramdev, Balkrishna and their team are doing commendable work on India’s traditional form of medicine, the history of India and revival of its traditions with commitment. “Visiting Patanjali I realised how modern technology is being used at each step in this aspirational district. This sends a message to the world about India’s capabilities and will also motivate all aspirational districts to progress swiftly,” said Goyal.

 From Patanjali, the minister went to the sewage treatment plant at Jagjeetpur where he minutely inspected the entire plant and the treatment process. The Union minister then reached Har Ki Paidi where he along with his family members participated in Ganga Arti.  The Bharatiya Janata Party State president and Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik, Roorkee MLA Pradeep Batra, Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan, district magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey and others were also present on the occasion.
