The head of department of Cardiology, Dr Salil Garg and his team carried out the pacemaker micro implant procedure. Dr Garg informed that the weight of the pacemaker is two grams while its size is equal to a big vitamin capsule.

“Till now, the facility to implant this pacemaker was available only in metro cities of the country. Now it is a matter of relief for the patients of Uttarakhand and nearby areas that this facility is now available here,” he said, adding that for the patients of Bradycardia, the facility of micro transcathether pacing system is available under ECHS, ESIC and CGHS Schemes.

He further informed that the patient already had a pacemaker inside her body and due to infection that pacemaker had been removed. “Implanting a new pacemaker was a big challenge for the doctors and we successfully overcame the challenge,” he said.
