CS stresses on maximising employment generation & observing precautions against Covid-19
Chief secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu has stressed on ensuring effective implementation of government schemes and policies. He directed officials to work towards maximising the reach of government schemes to benefit the citizens. Sandhu said this while chairing a meeting with officials after formally assuming charge as the chief secretary here on Tuesday.
Earlier in the morning, Sandhu was formally handed over the charge by the outgoing chief secretary Om Prakash. After assuming charge as chief secretary, Sandhu held a meeting with senior officials and officials till the level of additional secretaries. Stating that employment has been affected the most by the Covid-19 pandemic, he said that the state government’s efforts will be aimed at maximising employment generation. Referring to the improvement in the state’s Covid situation, he stressed on the need for all to observe precautions to maintain the situation.
He said that the focus should be on ensuring that public welfare schemes are effectively implemented on the ground and on maximising the number of beneficiaries of such schemes. “Every scheme is started with a good purpose but attention is not paid to the outcome of the scheme. On completion of a scheme, special focus should be laid on ascertaining whether the purpose of the scheme has been achieved or not,” he said. The chief secretary further said that the filing system should be made compact so that the general public can receive the benefit of schemes on time. Attempts should be made to ensure that any file has to pass through the least number of levels. Stating that there are intelligent and hard working officials at all levels, he stressed on the need to put faith in them. Subordinate officials should also be accorded the responsibility of disposing files at their level so that the disposal of files can be expedited. Meetings till the level of section officer should be held regularly so that as many people as possible receive the benefit of government schemes, he said.
Additional chief secretaries Radha Raturi, Anand Bardhan, Manisha Panwar, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
