Five persons were injured after a truck fell off the road down the mountainside on the Kotdwar-Dugadda stretch of the Kotdwar-Pauri highway. The accident occurred early on Sunday morning. Five persons including the truck driver were injured in the mishap. The police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to the base hospital in Kotdwar. According to the police, the Dugadda police post received information that a truck had fallen into a gorge at about five kilometres from Kotdwar towards Dugadda. The police personnel reached the site and found that a truck carrying cement along with a total of five persons had met with an accident. The injured persons were rescued and sent to the hospital. The injured have been identified as the driver Rahul (32), Himanshu (19), Anshul (18) and Amit (19) – all residents of Haridwar district and Karan (21) a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. It is being said that the truck was plying from Haridwar to Duggada when the accident occured at 4.45 AM on Sunday.
