The police have stepped up action to improve the traffic condition in Nainital city. The vehicles parked illegally on the sides of internal roads are not being parked improperly now. The locals state that if the police continue their actions against traffic rules violations throughout the year, the problem of traffic congestion on internal roads can be resolved. It is pertinent to mention here that with the Uttarakhand High Court taking strict cognisance, the district police chief has directed the Tallital police station and Mallital Kotwali to ensure proper traffic management on the internal roads of the city. The police have also appealed to the people to park their vehicles in designated parking spots instead of doing so on the side of roads.

On Sunday, the Tallital police station in-charge Ramesh Singh Bohra directed a drive under which the police issued challans to owners of 51 vehicles while two vehicles were also seized for violation of the rules. The Tallital police collected a total of Rs 29,500 penalty from the challans. On the same day, the police issued challan to owners of 25 vehicles in the Mallital Kotwali area. Five challans were done under the Police Act. A sum of Rs 14,250 was collected in penalty by the police in this area.
