The Election Commission (EC) has set up a comprehensive booth level health plan for the polling and security personnel on election duty. The Joint Chief Electoral Officer (JCEO) Namami Bansal informed media persons on Friday that more than 60,000 personnel will be deployed for election duty and the EC has decided to appoint special welfare officers for them. She said that the booth level plan will help in minimising the response time in case of any medical emergency for polling and security personnel on election duty.

The plan includes necessary measures in the booths and linking them to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Community Health Centres (CHCs), district hospitals and tertiary health centres. The arrangement of helicopter ambulances will also be made wherever necessary. She said that services of about 12,000 vehicles will be used for the elections and arrangement of postal ballots will be made for the drivers of these vehicles. Bansal said that nine nomination papers have been filed so far in the State for the five Lok Sabha seats. She informed that two candidates in Tehri, one in Garhwal, three in Almora and three in Haridwar have filed their nomination papers. No candidate has so far filed papers in the Nainital Lok Sabha seat.

The JCEO said that in the C-vigil app 6,357 cases of violation of model code of conduct (MCC) have been registered so far which is second highest in the country after Kerala. She said that all these complaints have been disposed of.
