The Dehradun district administration is not receiving new stock of printed smart ration cards due to the pending dues to the company responsible for the printing of the ration cards. There are about 3,75,000 beneficiaries of the ration cards who are registered in the district supply office but so far, the administration has received about 1.50 lakh smart ration cards, as per the officials. As the officials informed, the State Government has appointed a company through the tender procedure to print the smart ration cards of all the districts across the state.

Since the administration has not paid the company for the allotted stock of about 1.50 lakh printed smart ration cards, the officials informed that the company has stopped printing the remaining ration cards. According to the district supply officer (DSO), Jaswant Kandari, the administration received its last stock in February and since then, no stock has been issued by the said company. He said that the company has asked the administration to pay the due payments before starting the printing of the new smart ration cards. The supply office has got the approval of the administration and soon the company would receive its due payment, asserted Kandari.

However, he also clarified that since the company is also responsible to print the smart ration cards of other districts, it is also leading to the delay in the printing of the smart ration cards. Besides this, he also informed that the administration has provided the data of over two lakh beneficiaries so far out of 3,75,000 beneficiaries and would provide the remaining data soon after the supply office would receive the remaining cards.
