Manager of school getting aid as Madarsa accused of abusing several children

The chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Geeta Khanna on Friday conducted a field inspection of Rehmaniya inter-college in Bhagwanpur, Haridwar where a class III student died in a hospital on Wednesday after being beaten up by its manager, Zeeshan Ali. She said that the manager had also allegedly abused several students in the past too but the school administration failed to take any concrete action against him. She said that she talked to the victim’s family besides some other families who revealed that the accused had anger issues and had abused students physically and verbally on several occasions. They informed that every student who complained against him to the school administration was allegedly compelled later to leave the school, said Khanna.

According to her, the school was also getting financial aid as a Madarsa besides collecting hefty fees from students. The commission has recommended the education department to handover the school’s responsibility for now to the respective block education officer to appoint a caretaker to run the school. The SCPCR head also ordered the school administration to resume classes from Monday while directing the police to ensure investigation does not get affected by it. She also appreciated the police for their investigation so far. A student of class III was allegedly beaten up by the accused Ali for making noise in the classroom. According to the officials, Ali thrashed him so badly that he had to be admitted to hospital where he died on Wednesday. The police arrested Ali on Thursday after the victim’s family members and relatives staged a protest outside the school on Wednesday.

The SCPCR head who conducted the inspection along with the teams of Haridwar district administration and the police stated that the accused and other responsible parties will be given stringent punishment as per the law after police’s investigation.
